Originally from Lodi, CA, Nicole Holst has performed as a professional musician, dancer and choreographer. She graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a BA in Dance in 2005 and has danced in original works by Martha Graham, Paul Taylor and Anna Sokolow. Enjoying diversity Nicole has since performed in everything from dinner theatre cabarets to variety shows and was even in a folk dance company.
Her choreography has been presented regularly throughout the city in such places as the Uptown Performance Series, Frying Pan Barge, and DNA. In 2006 she was a member of InnerLandscapes Dance Theatre, through which she mounted an evening length work at the Merce Cunningham Studios, collaborating with actors, musicians and dancers on her first script. In addition, Nicole has choreographed multiple plays for the Alternate Theatre Company and has organized/produced several benefit concerts. Most recently she was a Guest Teaching Artist at the New Orleans Ballet Association.
As a singer Nicole has performed with several local bands spanning the genres of bluegrass, blues, country, classic rock and even metal. She was invited to sing with the Downtown Poker Club at BB Kings in Times Square and with the British Yankees in Boston, MA and Maine. Nicole was also hired by international rock sensation Oasis to perform songs from their recent album and is featured in their documentary. Currently she can be found performing original songs with her band, Central Valley Wildfire, and is learning to play the Dobro (resophonic guitar).
Both a Pilates and dance instructor at the YMCA Nicole enjoys passing on the joys of movement and self-discovery to others. She is a proud member of the Save Coney Island organization, a non-profit company seeking to preserve the historical legacy of Coney Island, and is instrumental in their fundraising efforts. Welcoming the endless opportunities to collaborate with other artists in NYC, Nicole thrives as an active member of the Brooklyn community she calls home.
